Reduce, Reuse, Recycle…
Shenzhen is a youthful modern tech center. To relate to this dynamic and young customer a mix of green and copper hues were synthesized in the palette for this Reserve store. The bar provides visual connection both inside and outside. The ceiling draws customers in and focuses attention to the bar and to a large mural at the back of the store.
The mural was created by Petit chinoiserie based out of London and Shanghai. The conceptual story behind the art combines the siren and Starbucks heritage together with ocean waste and its impacts on our planet. The art highlights the opportunity before all of us to minimize waste and restore our oceans from the destructive contamination of plastics.

For this major renovation in Shenzhen the market stressed the importance of maximizing seats. The existing store was larger in area but more irregular. The new lease line from real estate allowed for the design to focus the bar experience and tuck all the functional space out of view. Clever design was needed to disguise the large column located within the backline of this store.
